Sūrat al-Fātiḥa, repeated three times (RE 56, OE 50).
In a ḥadīth in the Ṣaḥīḥ collection of Muslim, the Sunan of al-Nasā’ī, and in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr of al-Ṭabarānī, Ibn ʿAbbās is reported to have said that while Gabriel was sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ), he heard the sound of a gate opening from above him. He lifted his head and said, “This is a door from heaven which opened today and had never been opened before.” Then an angel descended through it and he said, “This is an angel come down to the earth who has never descended before. (The angel greeted them with peace) and said, “Rejoice in two lights being given you which have never been given to any prophet before you: Fātiḥat al-kitāb and the verses which end Sūrat al-Baqara. You will never recite a word from either of them without being given (what you seek).
